• I am using a slightly modified version [Multi-Lingual Enabled] of the default Twenty Ten Theme [v1.2] for a client based in Canada. I need to develop the website in two languages English and French[Quebec]. I am using the xili-language plugin to do the translation.
There are two things I need help with
    1. where can I find a po/mo file fr_CA.po? and
    2. how to translate the sidebar widget contents as I don’t see any option/location anywhere to put the contents in different languages like I can for pages and Posts.
I will really appreciate if someone can help me overcome this problem.

Note: I am ready to opt for another [open source free] option if this is something is required to achieve what I am trying to?
    TIA

  • for fr_ca.po – your best option is to grab the fr_FR version and make changes.

The translate plugin would have to know how to handle the text widget. You might look at WPML (which seems to have have gone the paid route) or qTranslate to see if they offer the functionality you need.

Yes, have seen qtranslate and it presents a very good way out for the translation [provides a short codes like ([:en] for english and [:fr] for Francais) of TEXT widget, which is working like a charm.

Now the challenge being faced is to translate the things like Month and Day Names and the Plugin appears to check
Automatically check for .mo-Database Updates of installed languages.

But even then the entries are appearing in English only any pointer to sort this out will be appreciated?
