• Hi, I run a non-english site and I would like to know how to translate some expressions which are not automaticaly translated when I select other language.

Concretely, READ MORE text on the button, “Leave a comment” text, everything related to comments, “Categories” text, etc.

Is there an elegant way to do this? If not, how can I do this manually?

    Thank you.

You will need to translate the theme’s language strings with a program like Poedit (freE), which is popular.

Many videos are available, but this one is very good: Translate a Theme
He talks about a .po file but this can be done with the .pot file which most themes usually have, including the Longevity one.

    Hello.

I did translate the longevity.pot file. BUT, may I create a new file like PoEdit suggest me pt_BR.po OR leave the original name of file?

When you create a new language translation for a theme, you will need to save it in the language folder and in the language it was created for. So in your case as you mentioned, your .po and .mo translation file will be:

    pt_BR.po
    pt_BR.mo (automatically generated)

    There are 2 problems:
1- The longevity.pot file does not create the .mo file. It only creates the pt_BR.po
2- There is also another translation folder located in wp-content/languages/themes

I also copy the pt_BR.po (the only one PoEdid generates) to folder wp-content/languages/themes and don’t work.

I will try to make a new one translation, getting the words directly from the .php files, to try to generate the .mo file.

    [Update]
When using PoEdit on Linux, it don’t generates the .mo file.

Now, I’m trying on Windows’ PoEdit and it’s generating.

    NOW, IT WORKS.

    Thanks for the help.
