    Hello there,

    I am having an issue with woocommerce and translatepress working together; when we receive emails, i noticed that the text that the users type in their language also gets translated. I tested it out myself and the text i receive on the “Request for quote email” under “Comments” is different from what i typed and doesn’t make sense.

    Could you tell me what’s causing the issue? Surely there’s a bug somewhere…

    Hello,

    Automatic translation applies to the entire site, which is why these emails are translated as well. You can exclude the respective selectors and desired strings from TranslatePress Advanced Settings – Exclude strings.

    It depends on the plugin being used, but you can try adding the attribute <div data-no-translation> to prevent these emails from being translated.

    Hi Anca,

    Thanks for your reply! If i go on “Emails string translation” however, i have no strings found and where am i supposed to add the attribute <div data-no-translation>?

    Under String translation, i cannot find the string i’m looking for that shouldn’t get translated “order_comments”. This form is created by woocommence and it’s sent out with the request for quote form.

    There is also a free text field that gets translated under our contact form (managed by Gravity forms); how do i exclude this too from translation?

    Hello,

    The attribute <div data-no-translation> your text </div> it needs to be added to the content of the email.

    If you wish to exclude from automatic translation that field where the user can add text, you need to identify the respective selector (through inspect element) and add it to the option ‘Exclude selectors only from automatic translation’ in TranslatePress Advanced Settings – Exclude strings.

    A string that has been translated automatically, even if excluded, must have its translation manually deleted from the String Translation Interface.

    Hello Anca,

    I checked for the respective selector and found it to be, i believe, order_comments, (see screenshot here so you can confirm if right). Besides, data-no-translation appears to be there already?

    I added it to exclude strings but the text keeps getting translated.

    I searched it on the string translation interface to get it deleted, but i didn’t get any results, so possibly it’s the reason it keeps getting translated.

    On the body of the email, I also noticed that the names of the products get translated “twice” (TP already translated them on their respective pages but the translation on the email don’t match) and the footer too with our company name getting translated.

    Any advice why this is happening?

    Hello there,

    The ticket shouldn’t be closed, indeed, I am still trying to get a different answer from TP than “implementing custom code may be necessary”; a notes field is created in a way that no translation should intervene, and I believe TP should solve this. One should be able to tell TP that the company name at the footer of the email shouldn’t get translated either or that product names on emails should be translated in the same way than on the website, which unfortunately isn’t the case.

    I don’t think I am the only user of TP and WooCommerce with email translation issues, I have just replied back to TranslatePress on this and when I find the solution, I’ll share it here.

    Thanks @fixasb, I share the sentiment, hope they take this issue seriously.
