    Hi ??

I am using your exellent SummarAIze plugin but want to be able to translate the summaries in WPML. The fields does not appear in the translation editor.

Can you see which lines I need to add to the String Translation? Here are a screenshot of the options I have: https://a.cl.ly/RBubWJoj

    Thanks!

    Hi Johan,

Thanks again for reaching out! I’ve created a configuration file (wpml-config.xml) to improve WPML compatibility and make it easier for you to translate key settings in SummarAIze.

I’ve added this XML file to the GitHub code repo. It has not yet been added to the WordPress directory. If it works for you, I’ll add it for everyone.

    https://github.com/jwilson529/summaraize/blob/main/wpml-config.xml

    What This File Does:

The file allows WPML to detect and translate the following settings automatically:

    • Widget Title (e.g., “Travlt? F? historien helt kort”)
    • Prompt Type (e.g., “Custom” vs. “Standard”)
    • List Type (e.g., “Ordered List” vs. “Bullet List”)
    • Display Position (e.g., “Popup” vs. “Inline”)
    • AI Model Selection

    Next Steps:

    1. Download the attached wpml-config.xml file and place it in the root directory of the SummarAIze plugin on your site.
    2. Go to WPML → Theme and Plugins Localization and click Rescan SummarAIze.
    3. Check the String Translation section to see if the fields are detected automatically.

If everything works as expected, I’ll roll this change into the next official release along with some exciting new features (Google Gemini as a provider).

Let me know how it goes! If any fields are still missing, feel free to send me a screenshot, and I’ll make any necessary adjustments.

Thanks again for your support—it really helps make SummarAIze even better for everyone!

    Best,

Hi again and sorry for the waiting time.

I just tried to uplpoad the plugin and it resulted in a critical error, so I could not test further.

After reading your description again I just want to make sure that the ability to translate the actual AI-generated text fields is part of the update? This was my original request anyway ??

Sorry didn’t read your instructions properly. Give me 5 min, please…

Okay, now I did as described. I rescanned and 84 strings was registrered. But hey all seem to be labels.

When searching for example “AI Model Selection” nothing shows up. And fx the content of my custom widget title does not show up under the domain “summaraize” but I can find it here:

And still when I open an article in the WPML translator the Summaraize fields do not show up.

And … maybe even more important. The plugin hasn’t worked for while. I have tried changing the API and the assistant, but nothing happens when I click the SummarAIze-button. Can you suggest a way to get some error-info? The console is empty.

Thank you for providing such detailed information—it’s incredibly helpful!

I’ve made several updates to the plugin, including improved error handling and messaging. Please give the latest version a try and let me know how it works for you.

If you’re still encountering issues after the update, I’d recommend checking your API key. The new version includes more aggressive validation for added reliability. To test this, simply remove your API key, allow the system to fail, and then re-enter your key to trigger the new validation process.

As a side note, Google Gemini seems to be much faster at generating the summaries. Let me know what you think.

Regarding WPML, I don’t have direct access to the tool at the moment and haven’t had the opportunity to work with it yet. However, I’ve put in a request to obtain a trial or demo version so I can explore potential solutions. I’ll keep you updated on any progress.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Hi again. And you are welcome – I would really like to make this work ??

I updated the plugin (1.1.15), removed the API, created a new API, inserted it, changed the Assistant ID, and when clicking the SummarAIze-button I now get this “Run failed or was cancelled.”

The Gemini works very well though. BUT I don’t see how to edit the prompt (we only want 4 points and in danish). Is this something I do in Google AI Studio?

    Hi Johan,

Thank you for your patience, and I really appreciate your determination to make this work! ??

I’ve made an update to the plugin that should address your concerns about the language when using Gemini. Now, summaries will be generated in the language of the article you provide. So if the article is in Danish, the summaries will be returned in Danish as well (or any supported language).

Regarding the limit of summaries, the plugin will always generate 5 by default. However, once the summaries are created, you can easily manage them. You’ll see a trash can icon next to each summary, which you can use to delete any unwanted ones. Additionally, you can drag and drop the summaries to reorder them as needed.

For the “Run failed or was cancelled” error, please click the Regenerate Assistant button. I’ve recently added this button to the main settings screen for easier access. Clicking it will refresh the assistant configuration and ensure it’s ready to use with the updated settings. Since you’ve regenerated an API key, we should be good there. If it’s invalid, you’ll see a message indicating that it cannot create the assistant.

OpenAI changes things all the time so if you’re still having trouble, do this. Try the default settings by going to OpenAI Advanced Settings screen and setting both dropdown options to Default and then click Regenerate Assistant.

Please let me know how it goes after regenerating the assistant and testing the updated version of the plugin. I’m here to help if you encounter any further issues or have additional questions!

Thanks again for your feedback and for working with SummarAIze.

    Best regards,
    James
