• Hi guys,
I’m trying to translate a form. I’ve read all the documentation.

If I duplicate the original form and change the language on the cloned form, when I translate the fields directly on the cloned form, the translated string overwrite the fields in the original language form.

So I’ve tried to use WMPL String Translation to translate um_fields and _um_custom_fields. WMPL String Translation has found all the fields string, I’ve translated them, but in frontend I see the form in original language.

It seems that um_fields and _um_custom_fields are not translatable.

I think Ultimate Member is not fully compatible with WPML, or at least not with its translation logic.

So, how can I translate a form without overwrite all the custom fields strings in the original language form?

    Thank you!

    Hi @crescendoweb

Are you able to provide a video clip so we can see the issue clearly and then we will try to reproduce the issue on our end?

    Hi @champsupertramp
    I made two videos:

    Hi @crescendoweb

In the first video “Translating form”, you will have to re-use the same field with the same meta key/field name. And then you can change the label, title, and placeholder to your preferred language. Does it change the Register form when you change the language in the front-end?

    Hi @crescendoweb

Please feel free to re-open this thread by changing the Topic Status to ‘Not Resolved’ if any other questions come up and we’d be happy to help. ??

Hi @champsupertramp, sorry for late reply.

If I change string in the field of cloned form, in frontend I see correct languages for both form (the original one and the cloned form in the other language).

But if I have to reuse in an other form the same field translated with this method, field’s string are in the last language I’ve changed.

It’s difficult to explain, but the problem is that all the fields saved are not translatable. The fields are in common between the original form and the translated form. They are the same fields, not a translated version.

Another thing: how can I translate Role Title of User Roles? Again, translating the strings with WPML String Translation doesn’t work.

    Hi @crescendoweb

    Sorry for the late reply.

Are you using the special version of the Ultimate Member plugin to support WPML? Please see https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1449-how-to-translate-plugin#switch

    >>> how can I translate Role Title of User Roles? Again, translating the strings with WPML String Translation doesn’t work.
Are you trying to translate the Role title in the UM User Roles table or in a Role field?

Is there a special version? I think I’m using standard version, I’ve downloaded it from WP plugin repository.

I’m trying to translate Role title, but there’s no way to do it. In translated form the dropdown with user roles doesn’t work, in front-end the dropdown is empty.

I’ll try to better explain the problem with translations. Suppose we have a dropdown in the registration form with 2 choices: male and female.

If a user registers on the Italian version of website, in this dropdown he can select “maschio” or “femmina”.

If he goes in the English version of website through the WPML language switcher, he can select “male” or “female”.

In this example, if the main language configured in WPML is Italian and the form has been created in Italian, the VALUES of the dropdown are “maschio” and “femmina” both in Italian and in English. But the labels showed in front-end should be “maschio” and “femmina” if the user is viewing the website in Italian, and “male” and “female” if he is viewing it in English.

With your translation method (https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1449-how-to-translate-plugin#forms), we are not translating the strings/labels showed in front-end, but we are changing the VALUES of fields. This problem affects dropdowns, checkboxes and radios fields.

    Another translations bug.

I’ve translated profile page and profile form. In front-end, if I switch from Italian language (main language) to English, I can’t edit my profile. Menu with cog icon is missing.

    One more thing.

Content Restriction settings on translated pages doesn’t work for any role.

Content Restriction settings on a translated page:
Who can access this post? –> Logged in users
Select which roles can access this post –> Administrator
What happens when users without access try to view the post? –> Redirect user
Where should users be redirected to? –> Login page

When visiting that page logged in as Administrator, I am redirected to login page.

Same settings on original language page: I see the page correctly.

    Hi guys,
got some news about these issues?

I suggest you to apply to WPML’s Go-Global Program, they can help you to make Ultimate Member fully compatible with WPML.

    Hi @crescendoweb

Sorry for the late response. We are investigating the issue. Thanks for letting us know the steps to reproduce the issue and also about the Go-Global Program – we will have a look at these.

    Hi @champsupertramp,
It’s been 2 months … any news? I’m stuck with my client’s website translation.

Do you think all these bugs will be fixed in a short time? Just to know, otherwise we’ll have to find a working alternative plugin to UM.

    Thanks.
