The locale of a form is determined at the time when the form is created. This means that the locale of an existing form won’t change following your language setting.

Thank you so much for your quick reply, I have now been able to translate the form! However, now it is not possible to submit messages on the German form (the English form works) I get an orange error message. What could be the cause of that?

The orange error has nothing to do with translation. Open a new topic for that.
