    Hi,

I wonder what woud be the best strategy to translate content with Improved Include Pages. 2 possibilities came to mind:

1.) Translating every content page and every included page separately, and then you have to look for the right version in the right language:
    English: [include-page id=”123″]
    German: [include-page id=”124″]
This seems useful if there is a lot of Text.

2.) Translate only the Content pages but not the included pages.
    English: [include-page id=”123″]
    German: [include-page id=”123″]
So the included pages must find out the language by themselves (?lang=de for example) and translate themselves with a custom function (that already exists).
This seems useful for pages with few text.

How do other users translate included pages?

    Thanks!

This is an interesting question, but unfortunately not one I’ve considered before. You’re the first to describe it to me so I don’t have experience with what would actually be best.

Have you tried including the page using the slug? That way you can see if you’ve included the right version based on the slug rather than having to look up the correct ID?

We have not done any translating yet…just wanted to get the right strategy before starting.

Every Page that is included uses its ID [123]…there should be no problem looking up the correct ID…we have done it all the time in the untranslated version, and you can see the IDs in the URLs in the Pages Menu ??

Answering my own question ?? I’d go for BOTH!

Pages with a lot of text will be duplicated in translation, getting another id. Pages with little text will stay what they are, translating the few text bits with the help of shortcode and ?lang=en etc. in the URL.

…but maybe someone has a better ID ??
