• I am trying to find out if I can transfer a wp.com site to selfhosting by using it’s mysql database and entire site. This is because I tried using the import tool before on my hosted sites and realized it doesn’t transfer everything such as how my template looks. I also would like to avoid the paid service that is offered, hopefully being able to do it myself. I couldn’t find this specific method online

Is there something I am missing about using wordpress.com blogs? are they not allowed at all to edit templates, making it unneccessary to do a full site transfer?

  • wordpress.com does not have full access to templates, nor to a database export I would assume. It’s just the xml export file

Also, the themes may not be the same. While they may look the same, the coding and features between .com and .org themes may differ
