• Hi all,
So I’m relatively new to wordpress, but I’ve been using the online editor or iPad app to make blog posts. Recently I realized that plugins and further customization options were only available on the installed version of WP. So I finally figured out how to get it on my mac, but I can’t login in to my current website. (Hopefully this is making sense so far).

When I was installing the program onto my computer, at the 5-minute installation part it asked for all my user info, and my existing info didn’t work. I’m just not sure how to continue editing and posting on my EXISTING blog from the downloaded application…

Any insight or help would be awesome. i would hate to have to restart…

    Hi there,

Am I understanding that you are currently using a wordpress.com blog site and you want further customizations, meaning you instead want a www.remarpro.com installation?

    yes, that’s correct.

another issue i may be facing is the fact that I purchased my domain name less than 60 days ago so i won’t be able to transfer it to a host yet.

And did you follow a process to export your data from the existing site and import it into the new installation?

Just to be clear also, if you have installed WordPress on your local computer, you will have to move it to a host after development for public access.

This one is a pretty good resource: https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-properly-move-your-blog-from-wordpress-com-to-wordpress-org/

    OK, gotcha.

The existing blog is completely separate from the new one – you will be abandoning the old one, after you get the new one all set up.

There is a process export the content from your wordpress.com to your .org installation…

And just to confirm, are you doing the www.remarpro.com installation on your local computer just for development, then planning to move it to a hosting account at a later date? Because you don’t NEED anything on your computer to have a .org WordPress site. That’s not to say you can’t develop it on your computer and then upload though.

Regarding the domain name – you sometimes can’t transfer domains for 60 days but you can usually direct/re-direct them no problem.
