Transfering the site

I finally finished re-building my website and I now want to make it live and substitute the one I have now. I built it on my server in another folder. Now, do I only copy all the files of that file and put them in place of the old site’s files? Would that also transfer the database from the temporary site or do I have to set up a new one? I’m a little lost…
