• I am currently running my blog from the following directory. https://www.symhome.net/blog and I have been developing a brand new website on my local machine.

So I wanted to upload the new website to test it online and get some input from others. So I installed the new application in the https://www.symhome.net/wordpress directory utilizing the same database which it did not like. So when I uploaded the theme to the /blog location and activated it, my admin panel went blank. The only way to resolve this was to delete the them all together.

So my question is what is the ideal way to take a website that has been developed on my local machine and migrate it to my online server?

  • Moving WordPress to a New Server

The above applies if you are moving an entire site from one server to another, however after reading your comment – “The only way to resolve this was to delete the them all together” it makes me wonder if you might only be developing a new theme for an existing site? If that is the case, your theme should work on any WordPress installation when completed, as long as it is properly located in the themes directory.
