Hi, guys! For some days already I’m trying to solve some problems, researched a lot but didn’t find anything like my problem so far.

I tried the support from Bluehost but they told me something and I have no idea where to start. Besides working a lot already with WordPress, I’m no expert on php still.

    Here what I was told:
I believe part of the problem is that you have multiple WordPress databases uploaded into the same single database where they should be separate instead. I believe this is the reason that when you visit your pages it causes a redirect back to the main domain. Also the XML file normally only contains text content and does not have images, those are uploaded separately.

Here’s the list of problems that I got:
Can’t login – Solved changing the wp-login file
Can’t upload images through WP. It says for security reasons. I can do it through the FTP, though.
The pages from the main site are redirecting (example: reds4us.com/jogadores) for the the main page, the blog posts works fine.
The importation of the XML file duplicate the comments every time I tried it, and I tried it 4 times so… and I couldn’t get any attachments or videos related to blog posts.

It’s a big list, I don’t know if the right thing was to split every problem through the forum, sorry if I didn’t do it right and thanks up front for any help.

    Right.

Well, Ipstenu, all the blogs in the multisite had their images and attachments perfect, except the main one. Or at least, the main one lost more files than the others, so far, I just saw one image missing in the other blogs.

The images that I’m looking for aren’t in the public_html directory as well, or blogs.dir. I’m really starting to think that some leprechaun ate them or something, they must be yummy.

The boomer is even if I could find all of them in the Google’s cache, I couldn’t rename all of them for their names, so a bunch of old posts will be without images, not really a big deal, but a bit sad.

I’m starting to think that the old server really lost some files in their server outage (because I lost some recent posts, too). Then, nothing to do about it, if it’s the case. ??

The main site should have been in /public_html/wp-content/uploads/ (or in an old WPMU setup, /public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/) so if that;s missing from the ORIGINAL server, you can’t really do much to get it back.

I would recommend, for the future, making your own backups of the /public_html/ folder. I do it every night just to make sure I’ve got everything. And my server has a total snapshot backup :/ Can’t be too careful.

That’s exactly why I changed server. Actually, I feel good enough that I didn’t lost more posts or anything, a good part of the main content is too precious and specific to lost.

But at least now I have a server with a very good connection (besides Bluehost let me down with their support, I never had any complaints as a server) and I can really do a backup on a more regular, maybe daily, basis.

Thank you for all the excellent help, Mr. Half-Elf Support Rogue, Ipstenu. Probably for this kind of support that built WP in a freaking awesome platform. You should be proud of yourself. ??

One last request: any recommendations for my website? (Security ones or anything?) – I’m going to setup a subscription soon, so I’ll get an IP just for the website to turn it safe enough for the readers.

Ms half elf, but that’s okay ??

Glad I could be of some help!

As for suggestions… It’s all really subjective, and depends on what you want to do with your site.

    Ms Half-Elf?

    Even better. ??

Ok, following you on Twitter and I’ll give a check on your website.

    Thank you again!
