• I had a wordpress page set up on a domain with bluehost and I recently transferred all of the info to a new domain on Godaddy. It is now set up under a subdomain on Godaddy:

    projects.aandersson.net

Everything works smoothly, but I am running into an issue occasionally where instead of loading the wordpress site on projects.aandersson.net, a bluehost splash page loads (similar to the page that loads on this site:https://ours-yours-his-hers-mine.com/). I find this really odd because projects.aandersson.net has never been hosted by bluehost and is currently hosted by godaddy.

I’m guessing something happened when I transferred the wordpress page info over to godaddy. There must be some sort of code on the back end that is making the bluehost page load occasionally instead of the wordpress site.

Can anyone help me with what specifically I should look at and update? I’m fairly new to wordpress so some in depth explanation will help.

    Thanks!

Have you discussed this with godaddy/bluehost?

    Hey @itanders,

I believe you updated the DNS details to point to GoDaddy. The DNS update will usually take 24-48 hours.

After successful update, you should be able to view the contents on projects.aandersson.net.

As asked by @t-p, you can contact GoDaddy on the same.

    Hi,
DNS updates can be quite fast now. Using OVH, it takes effect instantly. The only thing that can delay an update is your computer keeping the old DNS value, and to force it to update, you can change you computer’s DNS, that way it will check again what the IP is.

I’m really unsure about your issue, in other words, it redirects you to a welcome address like if you just bought the domain ?

Double check your domain config to make sure there is no such thing as a default redirect or something. If you can’t get this solved, you can contact the domain provider, i’m pretty sure they can help about it.

    Good luck !

Both Bluehost and Godaddy are not helpful at all and they are telling me to speak to each other.

I do not think its a DNS thing, as this site has been live for a month and Godaddy confirmed everything is set up properly.

@robin-labadie correct..kind of..it is the same web address (projects.aandersson.net) but it displays a welcome page for bluehost…that is why I’m thinking its an issue with the way the websites files are set up because of the transfer.

I’m not sure how to look into any of this though, so any specific guidance on things to check would be helpful

    thanks!

Well… Let’s try to figure this out then.
Could you be more specific about when this page shows up exactly ?
Is it a redirect to their website, or is it displayed under your domain’s URL ?
I think the same as you, that it is very likely that your old provider affected the wordpress’ default behavior. Hopefully we can find out how to revert their crap.

It shows up randomly, its not very predictable. It doesnt redirect either, it’s showing up under my domain’s URL.

I dont know if this means anything at all but I did an SQL query and it looks like “bluehost” is showing up in these areas:
    wp_p01rjw6hnx_options
    information_schema.PROCESSLIST

    In yourdomain.com/wp-admin/options-general.php
    And /wp-admin/options-permalink.php
    Is everything set properly ?
