• Hello, I recently opened an account with weebly hosting services but realized quickly the company offers little flexibility when it comes to customizing my own pages. I was hoping someone could help walk me through the steps necessary to transfer my hosting service from weebly over to wordpress (fyi the domain is registered under google). I also want to connect this account to my DreamHost account and would greatly appreciate any help with this.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

  • Hey kylehughes,

So here are the steps you can take:
    1. Make sure to install WordPress on DreamHost first.

    2. Once you have WordPress installed you can decide if you want to re-create the pages and posts from Weebly manually or if you want to import your content.

    3. The two ways I found to import your content from Weebly are: get the RSS feed and use it to import it, or there are a few paid solutions that will do it automatically. Elegant Themes has a good post about it:
    https://www.elegantthemes.com/blog/resources/migrating-weebly-to-wordpress-a-step-by-step-guide

    4. Once you have your content ready on WordPress you’ll have to change the URLs to the actual domain and finally you can change your DNS settings on Google domains to point to DreamHost.

I know this looks very complicated, but take each step slowly and you should be able to migrate with no problems.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
