• Hi Aaron,

Thank you for WP Customer Reviews, LOVE IT.

I am in the midst of a re-design and am almost ready to go live with the new site.

Rather than upgrading the old site, i want to make a fresh start with the new install.

However, I want to preserve all of the existing data and reviews and move it to the new site and ensure the existing reviews can be posted to the appropriate products on the new site.

Will you please tell me how to do this?

Thank you, in advance for your help.

  • I’m no expert, but I’m guessing you can duplicate the database table to your new site after you install the plugin on your development version. I can’t imagine duplicating or overwriting the database table would be difficult. If you’re not sure how to do it, I’m afraid I’m not the person to instruct you on database editing, but it most certainly can be done.

    good luck!

Unfortunately this won’t work, not easily at least. The reviews are linked to content based on post ID. If the content has been redeveloped from scratch it’s not going to have the same ID on the new site as it had on the original. The reviews may exist in the table but there’s no way to display them on the correct product/service pages. If there’s only a few reviews and/or only a few products then maybe you could update the post ID numbers in the DB but it’s getting complicated at that point.
