• When I check my sitemaps for a particular site in Google Webmaster Tools I get a message that each page is being redirected, from a page URL without a trailing slash to a page URL with a trailing slash. Any idea what could be causing this? One particular page, although it is a top-level page, is listed on a separate sitemap from all of the others (sitemap-pt-page-2013-04.xml), and although its formatting is identical to the others, I get this warning in relation to that page: “Some URLs listed in this Sitemap have a high response time. This may indicate a problem with your server or with the content of the page.” Nothing on that page should be any slower than any of the others, and a re-crawl produces the same result. Any ideas or assistance would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • Maybe a plugin changes the permalinks? The sitemap plugin receives the URLs directly from the WordPress API, so there must be something interfering somewhere.

The high response times indicate that your server might be overloaded.
