• My WP-based site loads with a static page that does not display its title because I’m not keen on the idea of a page titled “Home.”

Really do not like the fact that WP removes the trailing slash at the end of the home-page URL. I’ve tried implementing the Permalink Trailing Slash Fixer, but the plug-in appears not to function under 3.9.1.

    Any workarounds?

You can usually create a custom menu of your own that will let you omit the “Home” tab/label, if that seems like it might be a more convenient option. That should let you create a front page tab with any name you like for the menu item. Some themes will support multiple custom menus in various locations. Adding a trailing slash to your custom permalinks in general settings and updating .htaccess doesn’t work? Or are you referring to a slash you would like to see after just your domain name? Example: yourdomain.com -vs- yourdomain.com/ ?

Adding a trailing slash to custom permalinks does not work. The page help for General settings and the Codex itself both state that WP removes trailing slashes from those settings. That wasn’t always the case.

I set the “Home” page up to skip its title because I want the page in the menu.
