• I have installed Google Site Kit on our website and ensured all Console and tags are also connected. But it is still not displaying any conversions in Google Analytics. Unless this can connect and display our converions in Google Analytics this it is pretty useless as a connection method. I can see all my traffic but not any conversions.
    What is missing?

    Hi David,

Thanks for getting in touch. Site Kit is used to show you basic information for the connected services, ie. Google Analytics, within your WordPress dashboard, and to easily set up such services and add them to your site. For a more detailed overview or Google Analytics traffic there is a link to the Google Analytics web interface, where users can find further insights, which are not included within the Site Kit dashboard.

As Conversion Tracking takes some configuration, including defining values and goals, these are not configurable within the Site Kit dashboard. If, however, the conversion tracking you’re wishing to track has defined goals Site Kit will display your goal achievements within the Site Kit dashboard. You can add your goals from the Google Analytics platform directly.

We also have added a guide on the plugin website in relation to setting up ads conversion tracking. Users can add conversion tracking using Tag Manager or by inserting their Google Analytics snippet manually, with your own conversion tracking tags added. Site Kit can still connect to this manually inserted snippet, to show you basic Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboard, while you can view Conversion Tracking specific data by clicking on the Analytics click through link.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above and I’d be happy to assist further.

So basically Site Kit can add the connections to Google Analytics and Tag Manager but not set any of it up correctly and you need to manually go into Tag Manager and set up each tag?
Perhaps I am better off using another plugin instead to connect GA4 to track my WooCommerce converions.

    Hi David,

It’s not possible to configure conversation tracking within Site Kit itself, it required some configuration on the Tag Manager side, or on the Google Analytics side if you’re looking to implement basic conversation tracking, such as defining goals.

Perhaps I am better off using another plugin instead to connect GA4 to track my WooCommerce converions.

If the plugin you are considering has e-commerce related tracking features you can certainly do so if you wish. While Site Kit can insert both a Universal Type (UA) and a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) snippet it will only display data within the Site Kit dashboards based on a the connected UA property. If you want to also remain using Site Kit then you may be able to insert a UA type snippet also with any third party plugin, which Site Kit can use to show you basic Analytics data within the Site Kit dashboards.

Note also that there is an open GitHub issue in relation to advanced ecommerce tracking within Site Kit. You’ll find out more on this below:
    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/459

Feel free to chime in there with any input, or ask me where if you have any further questions.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
