I have begun to notice various tracking company urls showing up ever since I redirected my domain to self-host it, and installed wordpress on it for my site’s theme. It may not be wordpress, but I’m wondering what the heck to do here. I have seen pixel.quantserve.com, tracking.pubmatic.com, b.scorecardresearch.com. I have gone to those websites and you can opt-out. But that puts an opt-out cookie in your browser and if you dare to delete cookies/empty cache or anything you just might find them back again. I have. Are these from wordpress offering to let companies track our webuse for marketing purposes? They are all marketing research firms. Does anyone know if where I could find out whether this tracking code is being inserted by wordpress?

I assure you, WordPress contains no such tracking cookies, but that doesn’t mean that a plugin or theme isn’t providing them.

You might want to try disabling plugins and switching themes until you find the problem.

Thanks, for the assurance, James. I’m trying to sort out the source of all of this and it’s good to know that WP is not it! Now on to others. I can’t switch themes – OMG it would be a mess to do that right now, I’m live with the site. But I’ll check out Graph Paper Press, who I bought it from – and GoDaddy, and the Photoshelter plug-in I installed…so many left to check! Thanks for the quick reply.

The WordPress.com Stats Plugin (developed by Automattic) is injecting the Quantserve script (with no disclosure, I might add).
