Tracking events & CF7 form submissions

    I used to have GA on this website, and am trying to move to GTM and track CF7 form submissions as well as some onclick events.
    I have setup GTM plugin, and configured an Universal Analytic tag on GTM.
    I haved used the plugin blacklist option ” Allow all, except the checked items below (blacklist)”, not sure if I am right.

    Now GA works fine, however, I can’ t see any event happening, neither on clicks, nor on CF7 submissions. I probably have to check my code for clicks, but I also wonder for CF7 submissions:
    – should it work just out of this plugin (when the option is checked)?
    – or should I add triggers and tags for it in GTM?
    – or is there a specific plugin (CF7/GTM) to add that it could work with?

    Any clue?
    I have gone though guides like this one, and the trouble, I see, is that although I have ticked CF7 in the plugin ‘integration” list, I can’t see, in GTM previw of my datalyer, any “gtm4wp.contactform” showing up, although I see the “gtm4wp.mediaAPI” one.
    What may be wrong?
    I am using latest versions of WP and CF7.

    Hi,

    First of all, you should not use the blacklist/whitelist feature unless you really want to restrict tag firing. This could be one reason for not having your events.

    After you have disabled this restriction, I will visit your site and see what happens once I fill in your CF7 form.

    Thanks for the reply!
    I was not using blacklists, but I was not well aware of how GTM works.

    I went through some documentation and realized I need to build some tags, variables and triggers (and not just Universal Analytics one) to have form events sent out to GA.
    I used this tutorial by Analyticsmania, which actually does not use gtm4wp.contactform but creates another one that enables to collect some element from the input form. Using a hidden field to name the form, it enables me to send that name into the event in GA. (See it here)

    The same blog offers a way to import all necessary data from your plugin into GTM.
    μThat was the missing piece for me, being a newbie in GTM :à

    I can add, I also used the same tutorial from analyticsmania and it seems to be working well for me at the moment.

    I am glad that you were able to setup this tracking, the integration of my plugin is only one way to achieve this, but thankfully there are alternatives here ??
