Tracking code not visible

    Hi Daan,

    I hope you are well. I’ve just installed your plugin, but for some reason I cannot find the tracking code in view source of any of my site pages? I’ve cleared caches. I set Position of tracking-code in settings to Footer as I read that this can help with speed, but I can’t find my analytics id anywhere in the page. Have I misunderstood what should be happening? It’s been a long day and my brain is fried ?? Thank you for your help.

    Hi Michael,

    Fried brains are the worst ??

    First off, thanks for trying out CAOS.

    Secondly, are you logged in while searching for the tracking code? If so, by default, CAOS removes the tracking code for logged in administrators. This behavior can be changed under Advanced Settings.

    But an easier method to get around being logged in, is probably opening a private window and checking the source there. ??

    If it doesn’t help, let me know!

    Hi Daan, thank you for your quick reply! And thank you for offering a great free plugin ??

    You are right, I am logged in – I’m sorry I didn’t realize that made a difference. I’ve just checked in a private window as you suggested and sure enough the code is there in the footer, so that is great, thank you.

    I wanted to also ask please about gtag.js – I read that analytics.js has been relegated due to being old and that gtag.js is recommended by Google. Is that right? I am pretty much totally confused with all this! I have left it as analytics.js in the plugin settings as you mentioned in the help file that it’s better for speed results (which I seem to be having issues with all of a sudden as of April 25th! Weird because I had no issues at all prior to that date… Anyway… Onwards and upwards!).

    I appreciate your help and clarifying my very muddy understanding ??

    Nah, analytics.js isn’t ‘old’. This article might help you out.
