Wondering how GWAP handles ad blocking software (UBlock, etc). It looks like the ‘gs’ file is not being loaded if ad blocking is enabled.

Is there a way around this to track visits by people that have ad blocking? Or ‘do not track’, etc?

Thanks. (WP 4.9.5, latest updates of everything, PHP 7.2)

  • Hi,

There are no workarounds for AdBlock.

The DNT (do not track) signal is configurable through plugin’s settings. You can choose to ignore it by setting the feature off under Google Analytics -> Tracking Code -> Advanced Settings.

Not by using CURL to access the Google Analytics Measurement Protocol? https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/protocol/v1/

If done properly (and I am still trying to get a handle on how to do that), there is a POST sent to GA that contains all of the tracking data. Since it is server-side, ad blockers won’t block the sending of tracking data.

Implementation requires CURL, which most hosting places enable, I think.
