I just got Scobleized and wanted to see if my trackbacks and pingbacks were working and looks like they’re not. I used these 2 online tools to test below and got these error messages. my blogs url is https://www.adultaddstrengths.com

    Any suggestions?

I notice on some websites they have a trackback category in each post but it’s not no mine. I’m using wordpress 1.5 and would like to wait until the bugs are shaken out of 1.5.2 before upgrading.

    thanks

    Pete

if you want to see if your site can receive trackbacks, try this tool.

    https://redalt.com/External/trackback.php

and put in my site URL https://www.adultaddstrengths.com

    and got this error message

    Trackback sent to specified page.
    Response:
    Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

Invalid URI in request POST HTTP/1.0

then I tried to see if I can receive pingpacks and tried this tool

    https://redalt.com/External/pingback.php

and got this error message from the same url

    Trackback sent to specified page.
    Response:

    Error.

any ideas how to fix it? I notice on some websites they have a trackback category in each post but it’s not no mine. I’m using wordpress 1.5 and would like to wait until the bugs are shaken out of 1.5.2 before upgrading.

  • Given the work involved between tracking down the possible problem or upgrading, I would upgrade. If it is a fault in the version you have, then no matter what you do it will not go away and every time you post, someone (like I’m doing) will suggest upgrading.

    1.5.1.2 looks very stable.

    Thanks Podz,

a little reluctant to upgrade since i know very little php and for beginners like me if changing one simple thing can take up a hell of a lot of time, or can’t be done, backing up, upgrading and reimporting posts seems like a massive amount of time.

So have to find a large chunk of time and then take the plunge

    Pete

Don’t bother upgrading (just fot this, I mean :). I have exactly the same problem with trackbacks and pingbacks, and I am using the latest WP version (1.5.1.3.).
