Trackbacks and pingbacks

  • Hi,

    Can anyone be nice enough to explain what trackbacks and pingback are. I dont know if I am having an off day but I am not getting the answers I am looking for searching online.

    Does approving trackbacks and/or pingbacks have any positive affects on my blog?
    Do they work as backlinks in anyway?

    None of the trackbacks I got have website links that work… :/
