Trackback to my WP2.0 doesn’t work

  • Hi,
    Someone did a trackback to a post in my newly installed WP2.0, but i don’t get any notification of this. I have a custom blog address format, and followed the instructions of what to put in the .htaccess. Everything else seems to work fine. Is there any way i can test tracking back to my own blog easily ?

    well, the https://www.yourpage.com/wp-admin/execute-pings.php thing worked for me.
    It says “already pinged” followed by a ping/trackback I just sent you. I assume it was a trackback, because that’s where I put the URL, anyway.
    And yet, it is annoying… ??
    I tried the query thing in the trac ticket to no avail.

    The sql query only works if you have whitespace in the to_ping field which I did not which was proven by my dropping the to_ping row and recreating it. The wp-admin/execute-pings.php trick seems a bit spotty still.

    For now 1.5 is running well for me. Looking forward to 2.1 ??

    Update. The latest nightly build does not address this issue. Trackbacks still broken in WP2.0

    Whew! It took me a while to reach the end of this thread. I did a fresh install of WP2.0 and a fresh install of WP1.5. I can SEND trackbacks from 2.0 to 1.5, but 2.0 can’t RECEIVE trackbacks from either 1.5 or 2.0. I know this trackback feature is just a small part of WP, but releasing a major revision with such a problem is bad karma. I’m going back to 1.5 until trackbacks are reinstalled — hopefully 2.1 isn’t too far away.

    makemead, I’ve been doing nighlies for three days, too. No luck here, either..
    wordimpressed, are you sure you didn’t get that backwards? the main problem in this thread is that 2.0 cannot SEND trackbacks. Pingbacks are ok. It’s just the sending of TB’s that all messed up. (for us anyway…)
    But yes, bad karma, indeed! ??

    cite: I went back to re-test my findings this morning (my original post was during a late night session)and found 2.0 unable to send or receive trackback. (Unless I misunderstand how to send/recieve trackbacks.)

    Nightly build 1.8.06 is a no go on this issue.

    1.9.06 still doesn’t address this problem. HELLO???

    1.10.06 same as before.

    No progress at all.

    I guess still no progress on this, huh? Anyone know why?

    Have you guys posted to wp-testers list about this? I don’t think I’ve seen any posts about it there myself, though I’ve been REALLY busy the last few days and not really paying a lot of attention….

    If you haven’t posted to the list, but you’re not getting things working and you’re not getting responses here, then maybe you SHOULD POST TO THE LIST…. which is where people get answers….

    I have posted to the list and got ignored in much the same way. :shrug:

    I tried posting to the list once more. We’ll see how it goes.
