• Hi,
Someone did a trackback to a post in my newly installed WP2.0, but i don’t get any notification of this. I have a custom blog address format, and followed the instructions of what to put in the .htaccess. Everything else seems to work fine. Is there any way i can test tracking back to my own blog easily ?

  • Also haloscan does not help. It permits to receive trackbacks, but not to send them. And the problem I have is in sending trackbacks. ??

Try using Simpletracks until things are fixed.

    This hack:
    https://comox.textdrive.com/pipermail/wp-hackers/2006-January/004002.html
seem to have done the miracle. I have not tested in automatic, but if I take of automatic notification, and insert the trackback 1 by 1, they are sent!
    Finally

Thanks for simpletracks. Although wp claim that he has sent the pings they don’t always appear. I might end up using simpletracks for some time.

pietrosperoni, again, as mentioned before, I don’t think that is what is causing my problems as I have dropped and recreated the to_ping row in my database. There is one extra hack mentioned there and I will try it out to see if it works.

Tested with 100% failure. Thanks for the try pietro

Try using Simpletracks until things are fixed.

I’d rather just use 1.5 until 2.0 is ready. Simple tracks is a PITA.

It worked on me makemead. I don’t know why it didn’t for you. Maybe they are different bugs that just appear in the same way.

Yes, that’s what I think, too. Mine is due to WP2 being incompatible with certain servers, I’m sure. ??

Thanks to skeltoac for the work he is doing. There is some action happening in the trac. ??

I saw “execute-pings.php” sitting there as an attachment in the trac. Is that supposed to be a “try before you buy” type of thing? Or is it the fix?
hmm.. guess I could go get it and try it…

I did notice that, while I can now trackback ping directly from the post upon publishing, the default trackbacks (set in Options) don’t appear to be being executed. (For instance, I’m finding I have to ping Technorati manually.)

I surfed around the world (easily done), tried some fixes (sql statement, patch for function-post.php & execute-pings.php) for that trackback issue but to no avail: wp2.0 still doesn’t ping nor send out trackbacks…

    Hi,

Can I just check that my issue is the same as is being reported here?

    – That WP2.0 is unable to send/receive trackbacks?

I have a curious situation whereby trackbacks I receive get “counted” (i.e. “3 responses”) but are not actually listed or visible to people to see.

Anyone else got the same problem?

    Thanks

The next release does ping AND send trackbacks.
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/TestTrack
has the latest code and they DO come through.

Feel free to hammer at it / from it.
