Trackback Query

  • (1.5.3 – newish site – low traffic) Can anyone clear up a small puzzle for me please – I’ve searched but can’t find the specific answer.

    A couple of days ago someone wrote a post that ‘trackbacked’ to one of mine. The trackback appeared in my comments list.

    yesterday, someone did the same thing to a different post. This time it did NOT appear in the posts comment list but DID appear on the dashboard under ‘Incoming Links’ (two entries actually). I don’t recall the first or previous ones on the dashboard but I might have missed them. I’ve checked the senders site and the trackback URL was used in his post.

    Question is: why didn’t it show up in the comments as previous ones have? As I say, I’m just puzzled!

    (Aside: IS there any way this textbox can have the font size increased – I see about 16 point type in the forum except in this box which is about 6pt!)

    The person might have posted your link, but not chosen to send it as a trackback. Trackbacks aren’t automatic when posting a link. You have to choose to send them.

    exactly. Follow the link in your dashboard to the site that displayed no comment.

    I bet you will find that person only entered your site URL in a post and didn’t manually send a TB.
