    Hi there,

i just connected my wordpress site with Yoast SEO and Wincher.

I want to Track the SEO performance on the Main page. But i got the following error message when open the “Track SEO performance” Panel:

Before you can track your SEO performance make sure to set either the post’s title and save it as a draft or manually set the post’s slug.

Is it not possible to track the performance for the main page? Because the main page dont have a slug.

    Thanks.

    Best regards

    Amin

    Hi @awa-online

We understand you are trying to use the Wincher integration to track the keyphrase performance for your homepage.

Just to clarify, is this a static page that you’ve set as your homepage? And when you edit the homepage, does it not have a slug in the Yoast SEO meta box? Even if it is set as the homepage, the static page should still have the slug in the backend.

    Hi,

thanks a lot for the fast reply.

Yes exactly, its a static page that i have set as my homepage.

And in the Yoast SEO meta box, there is a Textbox called “Titelform”(german), and when i put something in, it shows me the Keyphrase correct in the “Track SEO performance” box.

But when i save it, the slug diseapears and the error message is ther insead of the Keyphrases.

    Hi @awa-online

Are you using the default WordPress block editor or are you using a page builder or some sort of other theme box to add your content? Would it be possible for you to provide us with more information on this so we can try and reproduce it on our end?

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

    Hi there,

i am using a page builder which is provided with the theme i bought.
I just deactivated all other plugins, and after that it worked.

So I guess, yoast with whicher is just not compatible with my theme:-(

    Thanks for your help

    Hi @awa-online

Could you let us know which page builder/theme you are using?

Also, just to clarify, with that said page builder and theme, are you using its default editor, and does the ‘slug’ field in the Yoast SEO meta box appear as blank?

If you could attach a screenshot (using snipboard.io or imgur.com to share a link) of what you are seeing from your end in the homepage editing screen, this would be helpful.

    Hi there,

i am using the “Envision – Responsive Retina Multi-Purpose Theme“.

Yes exactly, the ‘slug’ field in the Yoast SEO meta box appear as blank for the static page that i’ve set as my homepage. In the other sites the slug field is not empty and Wincher is working just fine.

    Here a Screenshot:

When i put something in the slug and save it, it diseappears.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi @awa-online

We are aware of an issue where the slug appears as blank for a static page that is set as the frontpage when you are using the classic editor or a page builder, which looks to be the same case here. We have an internal report and we’ve added this forum thread to it.

We don’t have an ETA on when this would be addressed, but please do keep track on future plugin releases for any enhancements or bug fixes.

    Thank you for your understanding.

If you want to get rid of the error inside the page/interface:
Turn off Wintcher and save it. (inside the Yoast setting)
After that, turn it ON again, the error will go away,

but to connect the Keyword to Wintcher it’s a different story ( issue )
The Yoast team needs to fix it.
