    Hello,

    I have recently installed this plugin and I noticed that it doesn’t detect a key activity I want it to detect. I have built this website where users sign up to download certain files. The files appear in table format and when a user downloads a file, they click a download button which is visible on the table, then the file opens in a new tab.

    I want this plugin to detect the file URL and it doesn’t. How can I do that?

    Thank you for using our plugin @abongilesilonga

    I am presuming that you are linking directly to the files. For example: https://research.merchantec.co.za/file1.pdf.

    If the above is correct, then there is no way for our plugin (or even WordPress) to know about such download, since such request is handled by the web server directly and never sent to WordPress.

    We are looking into possibly partnering with a file downloads plugin which can be used to publish files for downloads and allows us to keep track of file downloads.

    Hello Robert,

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I found a solution, all I had to do was create a post for each file I want to track. So when users click the download button it takes them to a post page where they have to click download again, not an ideal solution but I am able to see who has downloaded.

    Good workaround @abongilesilonga

    Might not be the best solution, but one that works for sure. I can’t see many ways around this, apart from using a file downloads manager plugin with which we can integrate.
