• Hi All,

Is the tour dates list dynamically created by a plug in, or is it merely an old-style manually created table within a child page or post—which is somehow displayed on the homepage?

I’m using Singl on a wordpress.com blog site, but there’s no good help for it, so I searched the web and arrived at this forum for the self-hosted version.

    Thanks,
    John

  • Hi there,

The tour date list you see on the homepage of the demo site is a manually created table of dates on a sub-page with the title of “The Deep Web Tour” but is not automatically generated content.

The way this theme works, the homepage has the ability to show any “child page” as a section in the layout. For the demo they used a manually created list, but you may be able to use a plugin or some other event calendar functionality if you wish. All that would take is to add a dynamic calendar (supplied by a plugin) to a new page on your site, and then specify that “Home” is the “parent page” of the new page you created, and it will appear in the layout.

More info on how to set up Singl to look like the demo here: https://wordpress.com/theme/singl/

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Jerry,
    Thanks for this.
I suspected the list was manually created with a table.

Q: Can I choose how many blog posts show on the homepage?
Q: I see that Blog pages can’t be customised. So I end up with the blog posts showing on the homepage along with all the other stuff in the blog page they’re drawn from. Can I just have a short excerpt of a blog post display on it’s own?

    Thanks again Jerry,
    John

It should be possible to set this via Settings > Reading.
