Toujours Theme: featured content section missing

I have read several other threads regarding problems with the featured content slider in the Toujours theme.
My problem is when I look under the customize section, I do not see any “featured content” section to add my tag. In addition, the featured content slideshow is not showing at all on my blog. My website is currently “under construction” as I have not launched yet. I imported all of my content from a previous blog.
-I have tried deactivating and reactivating all pluggins.
-I made sure that in the “your latest posts” option is turned on under the static page section.
