Totally confused over template, ftp & WordPress.

I’m a 1st time user on templates and WordPress and am completely stuck.

Brief background;

I’ve downloaded Themeforest’s Kinetika template onto desktop.

I’ve tried to add the zip file to WordPress via Appearance button.
However, when I try to install it as a New Theme, it will only
download 3% then shows as a blank page with “This Site Can’t Be Reached”.

I have now managed (somehow) to upload the Kinetika files via FTP Filezilla where they appear on both local and remote sites.

However, when I return to WordPress the template is still not showing.

I’d be really grateful for help on how I get the template active in WordPress. Many Thanks.
