• I am unsure what version of WP is currently installed as unable to access my site. The last update was end of March so I assume it’s the 4.7.4

Problem: I am currently locked out of my web site and all attempts via the reset password and by my hosting provider have proved unsuccessful. I appear to be in a loop whereby the hosting provider resets the login page but the site will not let me change my password and the old password is not recognised. As a result I am triggering the site lock out after 3 failed attempts.

when I try to reset the password it keeps saying the password does not meet site strength of password but I have used all the criteria so the fault is something other than the message.

Without being able to reset the password I am completely locked out of my web site. My hosting provider is asking for the security plug in to be disabled via ftp (thru their web site) but I don’t know what the plugin name is to disable it! I can view from their web site a list of the WP files and they tell me it should be under directory WPcontent and my hosting provider is asking what security plugin I am using in order to disable it via ftp.

Any suggestions as to how to either reset the user access password or to identify the security plugin to disable it?

    It look simple to me…
    1. disable all plugins
    2. go to phpmyadmin > reset password
    3. login again with new password…

My hosting is being done via a company called 123.reg not WordPress.com. I cannot find any of these tools available to me. All I seem to be able to access from my hosting service is a series of file names which when right clicking on them allow me to edit in text form.

I have not risked changing any as yet as I am not sure what I am doing!

I could not locate any of the file names referenced in the video.

update: I have found how to access phpmyadmin via my service providers web site but the database is empty… I am not sure if I am missing something fundamental or just not constructed the site correctly to be able to maintain it.

    Hello @chapmanpaul2015,

Couple questions about what you found in phpMyAdmin. Was there a database and it was just completely empty? Did you see more than 1 database? It sounds like you do have WordPress installed and if that’s the case you should have a database listed.

If you do have multiple databases you can find which one your site is pointing to via your wp-config.php file which you’ll find in your file manager on your cPanel. Also, would you mind sharing your domain name?

Hope we can help get you back into your site, let me know thanks!
