    Hi Please Help

I’m creating a website for a pal and it won’t display correctly on his pc. He is only having this problem with some wordpress websites. He has looked through the showcase section and some work and some don’t.

I have posted a jpeg of what he is seeing on the website in question.

As you can see it displays correctly, but not on his pc

  • That looks like either 1) the stylesheet isn’t loading or 2) the site is loading a print stylesheet for some reason. I can’t quite tell from the image. I also don’t see that problem on Windows 7 with IE8. What browser (and version please) is your friend using?

Also, why are you forcing IE7 emulation?

He is using IE8. What is “forcing IE7 emulation”?

I can’t find it now, but I read somewhere that if you are using a local install such as XAMPP, that IE8 will incorrectly identify itself as IE7.

I would try getting him to browse to this url: https://djmgardenfurniture.co.uk/wp-content/themes/Untitled/style.css

Then when that has loaded, try viewing the site again. If that doesn’t work, clear his cache and try again.

It could also be a sign of spyware on his computer as it could be redirecting the CSS URLs to something else and so none of the CSS is successfully being loaded.

    What is “forcing IE7 emulation”?

You have a meta tag (<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />) on the page that will force IE8 to render the page according to IE7 rules.

    Hi Apljdi

    Where abouts would this be?

I have had a look in the theme editor and can’t find any thing. I noticed that i have

    Stylesheet (style.css)
    style.ie6.css (style.ie6.css)
    style.ie7.css (style.ie7.css)

But no ie8, could this be the problem?

Hi Gnack, i’ll get him to try that. thanks

Its in the header. View-source to see it. Most likely the code is in the theme’s header.php.
