You’ve hacking into the core framework with css:

.row, .row-fluid, .col2-set {
margin-left: 80px;
margin-right: 80px;
margin-top: -10px;
margin-bottom: -20px;
}

That is going to cause problems everywhere, but the -10px margin is your issue with the topbar.

yikes that sounds a bit frightening. i didn’t know i did that. just been playing around with firebug and whatnot. would that be why the mobile version of my site is screwy?

Most likely, you don’t want to edit core framework css classes, like row and col-md-3 for example
