top ten updates

  • Hey Jacob,
    Would you be able to point me in the right direction on figuring out why the top ten is not updating? Yesterday i cleared the view counts. About an hour later i enabled the top ten widget. I saw yesterday that some photos started showing up in the top ten and they changed every few hours as expected. Its been about 12 hours now and it does not look like anything has changed.
    IV-A-9 is checked

    Also, how often is the top 10 updated on the back end?

    What is the setting of Table IV-E17? If not already, set it to Viewcount.
    Update is immediate ( i.e. at next pageload ).

    Ah it was set to mean rating. I changed it to viewcount.

    Doesnt look like anything has updated still since last night after changing it.

    Yep it is checked. I can see that it updated and showed a few changes last night, but nothing has changed in about 8 hours. About 10k people visiting the site a day and i can see on analytics that lots of stuff is being clicked.

    One weird thing that i did notice.. is that i do see updates to the top 10 when i am logged in as admin. If i am logged in as a non-admin… The images shown in the top 10 say 0 views.

    Do you have a caching plugin active? Try to de-activate it.

    If the page is cached ( maybe for non admin visitors only ) you will not see the content changing. Any type of speeding up has its price.
    Any caching plugin should at least flush the cached pages once an hour automaticly. Caching is fine, as long as it does not affect the content of the page…
