    HI OPA! I’m back!

HAHAHAH Hopefully this is a lot easier than last time!

I was wondering if there is a setting to allow the top ten comment widget to link directly to the image it represents.

    Example.
    1. Let’s say I have ten albums and I get comments on pictures from all of them. All these albums are at various places on my website and set under various levels of access depending on the users.
    2. Currently it looks like some of my users are getting access to albums they normally can’t see since they are clicking on the widget and seeing the full image (it looks like it creates its own page or has to be set to a specific page but I don’t see where I can just set it up as a REGULAR link to the ORIGINAL page)
    3. Is there a way to just have the widget go directly to the correct gallery and index the picture in that gallery on it’s original landing page. This would mean clicking on image would indeed bring the user to the same place as if they were seeing the image in it’s gallery. Thus two pictures in two galleries would be seen in their respective galleries and web pages. This would allow me to set permissions correctly for visitors and subscribers to see images at their correct member level.

Maybe the settings are there but I don’t know how to set it up.

    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Asdsuming we are tyalking about the WPPA+ Comments on Photos widget (i.e. not the TopTen widget), you can set the link type in:
Basc settings -> Links -> III: Links from items and images in widgets -> Item 9 CommentWidget

You can select one out of 11 options. Should include one that suits your needs.

Yeah, I went through those but the issue I am having is the landing page has to be set to a specific page (at least that I can see).

So, if I have two Albums – Album A and Album B
two sets of Subscribers – Subscriber A and Subscriber B
Each Subscriber has landing pages specifically for their membership and allows them to see ONLY those images.
I don’t see a way to set specific photos (from the comment widget) to land on a page for Subscriber level 1 (with Album A permissions and NO Album B permissions). It looks like you can ONLY set it to one page overall…..
…. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH crap, I just realized what I am asking. That’s not the way the system works. WPPA doesn’t know where the albums are inherently from the link in the recent comment widget. I might have five instances of a gallery and it doesn’t know where to go…. Hmmmmm DANG IT!

OK – I don’t know a way around this!!! Might just have to live with it. I think I can do something… hahaha

OK – marking this one as solved unless there is a new idea! HAHAH

Create a page with title something like Comments on photos and as content:
[wppa type="landing"] , do not add it to a menu and select it as landing page.

It will only show the results of the links, opening the plain page shows nothing.
I really can not make itr simpler…

Thank you and no worries. I know what you are saying but what I am looking for is a variation of that. The landing page isn’t the issue. Setting up a general landing page isn’t the issue. The issue is the comments widgets is showing all logged in users photos from galleries might not have access to via membership level. The issue arising is anyone clicking on a comments widget image will likely have one of these options:

    – go to some generic landing page EVERYONE can see
    – go to some page landing that ONLY certain people can see

The deal with either of the solutions is I want to keep the gallery image access separate for various members and still use the comment widget.

YOU DID GREAT OPA! I’m not complaining about the ideas here – they work. I think what I asking for an what WPPA inherently is doing aren’t the same at the moment and that’s OK. I did a workaround on the main site by making the landing page in the ‘subscription’ area. This has effectively locked out the visitors from ‘seeing’ photos they don’t have access too. It’s a good solution!

Thanks for the answers and ideas. I did implement a version of them!

    Additional info:

You can use a shortcode (can also be done in a text widget) that shows the commented photos of certain alnums only. Example:

    [wppa type="thumbs" album="#comten,13,10"]

see the doc ( https://wppa.nl/shortcode-reference/ ) on virtual album specs:

#comten[,n[,m]] Commented A virtual album containing the most recently commented photos. May optionally include albumnumber (n, 0 for systemwide) and number of photos(m) if not the default as defined in the Settings admin page.

(I assume – but did not test it – that you may specify an album enumeration like 4.7..12.14 )

WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!?!!?!?!? I didn’t know that about specifying albums for the widget!?!?!?

I will check it out! THANK YOU!

Not in the comten widget, but in a shortcode that you can put into a text widget

    Here are some examples: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/
The links from the thumbnails are the standard links, so you have to change them using inline settings (see: https://wppa.nl/nl/docs-by-subject/in-line-settings/ for more about that).

There are two different wppa+ Text widgets, different albums and different behaviour, the content is shown in the widgets.
