Top primary navigation with submenus not displaying well

Hi Pete, at what browser window size and screen resolution are you experiencing this issue? Have you removed the submenu for now? I’m not seeing it. Thanks!

The menu item on the top primary navigation: Tip ‘n Tricks

Thanks. I don’t think there is a way to avoid that since the submenus fly out to the right. Some workarounds I can think of are:

• move the Tips n Tricks item further left in your custom menu order – say, between Home and Notes
• leave Tips n Tricks where it is and add use some custom CSS to add some space between the entire menu and the search icon
• don’t have a dropdown menu for Tips n Tricks, but make a landing page instead which lists the sub-pages

The dropdown and listing menu like this, really fit the Twenty-Fourteen theme.

Using a menu plugin like that is definitely another option! Let me how it goes.

Hi, I want to jump in the discussion. You can actually create drop down sub-menus in Twenty Fourteen. You only need to move the navigation item bar (in Appearance>Menu) slightly to the right below a main menu. The drop down menu like the example quoted by Kathryn works beautifully on PC and logged in users in mobile devices.

But it did not work for users who are not logged in. As my login menu is part of the top primary menu, users cannot even see where to log in. I press the navigation icon next to search. There’s no response. The search box also does not show up either. They work fine once I am logged in. Does anyone know why and how to fix? Thank you.
