    Hi

The list of my Top Pages viewed is very strange – as some pages are repeated in the list few times with different number of views for the same time period. Why?

Also, which is of more concern, my private pages are also showing several views – while they are supposed to be NOT visible to the public, and are certainly not in any menu on the website.

Do these views include my own views as admin while logged in? if so, then that’s a serious design flaw. If not – then why some pages are listed several times and how can my private pages be accessed by anyone but me?

  • Hi @magicpowers

The private posts made in WordPress are accessible to Administrators and Editors. If you visit the private post using any of these two user roles the post view will be tracked.

However, Analytify in default installation excludes Administrators and Editors tracking.

Please check the repeating page URLs in the “Top pages by views” to verify if they correspond to one page/post or different ones. This will help us debug the issue. Also, do send the screenshot of the repeating posts in the dashboard.

    Looking forward,

    Hi @artisticasad

    thanks for your reply.

This is interesting. I checked my Analytify dashboard, and:

    1. I do have Administrator excluded from tracking
    2. I saw another interesting field: Exclude analytics on specific pages which has several Page IDs entered which I forgot about. There are several page IDs entered such my cart, checkout etc plus few other pages.
    3. Importantly, my testing page is also excluded.

    So – given that:
    – my page views as Administrator are excluded
    – my test page is excluded

and there are views of this page shown – either my private page can be accessed externally, or there is a glitch in your program which is still tracking my own views of this page, regardless of those above two exclusions.

    in addition:
    4. Cart and Checkout pages – which are excluded – also show views with data, while on those pages in edit view there is a note
This post is excluded and will NOT show Analytics

    Repeated pages

I’m not including a screenshot as it will not give you more information than what I can describe:

PODCAST page is repeated four (4) times at number 2, 13,14 and 25, each with different data.

Home page is repeated twice, and my test page also twice.

So it looks like a big bug in your program.

The main issues of concern for me are:

    1. tracking of page views regardless of the page exclusion, and potentially of the Admin role exclusion.

    2. tracking of my private test page views

    3. potentially tracking my other temporary private pages/posts which are meant not to be visible to anyone, including tracking, while in the private mode.

    Could you please advise.

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

First I would like to clarify the option “Exclude analytics on specific pages”. This option doesn’t exclude pages from tracking, it just prevents their stats from being reported in the dashboard.

The “Exclude users from tracking” should work as its being used by hundreds of others users. I suggest you to perform the following checks to identify the issue in your environment.

    1. Make sure you are only using the GA tracking code that Analytify puts on the site and not adding any code manually.
    Screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/G2l84l4ZgH7Z8hRRF8k8n6CMwpkQEs

If there is any manual code added on the site the plugin settings options will not apply to them.

    2. To identify if there are multiple tracking codes on the website open any page source view and search for “UA-“. If you find multiple “UA-” then there is more than one tracking code added on the site which is causing the problems you are facing.

If you are still not able to identify the issue please contact us on our support channel. A dedicated developer will sort the issue for you.

    thanks for the clarification.

    1. yes, that’s what I did
    2. I don’t see any UA line in the source code on any page

This is not hugely important, so I can’t spend any more of my time on this issue to discuss it with the developer.

If you don’t have the fix, I will leave it at that.

    thanks for your time

    @artisticasad

one final comment – your stats are not accurate, hence they are not reliable.

The weekly summary data when added up is not the same than the one shown in your dashboard.

Plus, the weekly summary dates overlap, which is confusing.

and no, I don’t have the time to do lengthy troubleshooting with your developers.

Sorry, looks like I need to look for another analytics program.

I mark this thread as resolved.
