Top Level Summary with Multi Site

Hello

We are developing a sports media site headlinesport.com. Currently we use a single site but want to move to multisite.

We are using a child twenty fourteen theme and use the featured images / posts for top stories.

As we have a single site, this only appears on the main front page. We want to split admin into the sections and possibly have different themes on the sub-sites

headlinesport.com < top level
headlinesport.com/football < (site2)
headlinesport.com/tennis < (site3)
etc…

By doing this we can have featured images/stories on each sub-site.

Is there a way of collecting the featured stories from the sub-sites onto the ‘top level’ site?
