  • Same issue here. I have v. 2.2.3 now. Not sure when tooltips broke.

    Does it work if you enable the “Always Enqueue Scripts” option in the plugin’s general settings?

    Actually, it doesn’t! It was checked, but when I disable it, it starts working again, but only in the footer widget area, and on all pages (you can check https://www.roosendaalselijst.nl/ for example) except for the page which has the calendar in the general body area as well as in the footer (https://www.roosendaalselijst.nl/agenda).

    So now it seems that the plugin is conflicting with itself somehow. Does that make sence?

    That made no difference in my installation.

    Alright, does it work when you revert to a default theme and disable your other plugins?

    I can’t inflict such breakage/disruption at the moment (I’ll have to do that in a non-production copy), I’ll just revert to a previous version or something …

    I narrowed down the problem to the following:

    – When the ‘Alwas Enqueue Scripts’ is turned is ‘off’, the Google Calendar Widget in my footer works fine, but not when I also have a Google Calendar displayed via shortcode in my body area as well;
    – The Google Calendar displayed via shortcode does not show tooltips at all;
    – When I disable the Google Calendar Widget in my footer and check to see if this makes any difference to the Google Calendar displayed via shortcode in my body area, this doesn’t seem to affect it’s behaviour.
    – When I delete the shortcode on the page that is displaying my Google Calendar in the body area, the Google Calendar widget on that specific page in the footer starts working again.

    I reverted to a default theme and that does not seem to produce the same issue, but that doesn’t change the fact that the plugin did work before on my custom theme and that it actually still works, but only not when it is being displayed twice on a page.

    Could you please have another look at it to see what has been changed in the last update that could be causing this problem?

    Something I’ve noticed, it works one minute, next time I check it’s undone again- so it has to do with cache, maybe? Also, the new version has different Google API settings available – when you’ve updated the plugin then gone back to an older version (because the new one stops working, but the old one seems to again, before it stops showing events as highlighted) you’ve saved the new plugin settings, which are:

    Google API Key
    Always Enqueue Scripts & Styles
    Disable Plugin CSS
    and, most importantly: ***Save Settings Save your settings when uninstalling this plugin. Useful when upgrading or re-installing.*** – I refer to this because this error appeared above the calendar a couple times:
    A valid URL was not provided. Please ensure your feed URL is correct.A valid URL was not provided. Please ensure your feed URL is correct.A valid URL was not provided. Please ensure your feed URL is correct.

    The feeds never changed, still accurate, they work/are recognized when yet again I updated the plugin. I also went to /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=gce_feed and went through the feeds clearing cache for each one (you have the options: Edit | Quick Edit | Trash | View | Clear Cache) under the feed names.

    Sorry for such a long post- this has resolved it for me for the moment, hope it helps others too..!

    Wanted to add:
    Newest version of plugin/latest WP, Feed caches cleared:
    Calendars showed highlighted events, no hover
    UNCHECKING THE FOLLOWING GC Setting MADE HOVER APPEAR AGAIN:
    Always Enqueue Scripts & Styles Enqueue this plugin’s scripts and styles on every post and page. Useful if using shortcodes in widgets or other non-standard locations.

    Reverted to 2.2.2.1, didn’t work. Reverted to 2.1.3.
    Works like a charm …

    Yayyy, still working smoothly today! Thanks again for this beautiful plugin!

    Reverting to 2.1.x worked like a charm until feeds were refreshed. Then they ended up empty.

    I give up. GCal Events have fatally broken 4-5 times in the last 4-5 months. I don’t have time to go in a fix it every time it’s updated or when clients notify me that it’s broken again …

    @flips01,

    Do you have a link to your site so I can take a look? What are your feed settings set to?

    @ookimb,
    Glad it’s working for you ??

    @brandpuntmedia,

    Interesting that unchecking the option makes it work. I will look for an issue with that setting as well as the issues with multiple calendars on the same page not working together.

    Thanks for all the additional info and I will keep everyone posted with my findings.

    @brandpuntmedia,

    Actually what is the shortcode you are using that isn’t working?

    Nick: I just placed an iframe there for now, as I’m on vacation. I’ll put up a new site with a new theme in a little while, then I’ll try to get The plugin back up. I’ll let you know if the issues is still showing up then.
