    Hi guys,

This is a really weird issue so bear with me in explaining it.

I want to preface this with the fact that my site is not a multi-site.

I have modified my user roles a bit and so I have:
-Administrator (Can see toolbar) (WordPress base-level user role)
-Advisor (Can see toolbar) (Added via User Role Editor)
-Councilman (Can see toolbar) (Added via User Role Editor)
-Artisan (Can’t see toolbar) (Added via User Role Editor)
-Member (Can’t see toolbar) (WordPress base-level user role, formerly “Subscriber”)

The following are additional roles for Buddypress (these seem to have no bearing on the toolbar permissions at all):
    -Advisor
    -Councilman
    -Apprentice
    -Adept
    -Pending

I was working on something else and logged into my husbands base-level account. I noticed that his toolbar was missing entirely from the top of his page.

Looking into my toolbar settings and I’m still just as confused after setting it back up so that regular members should have access to everything, but it’s still not showing.

I’m not sure why. It was giving me an warning and told me to re-save my settings, which I did, and the warning has since disappeared, but… he still has no toolbar.

Any guidance on this is massively appreciated because as of right now, none of my base-level members (i.e. non-admins) can see their notifications.

I’ve attached a screenshot of my settings, so that they can be reviewed. Is it because I do not have corresponding user roles for the buddypress user roles? I can’t imagine that would be an issue, but it’s certainly acting oddly.

Also a few things I’ve tried, swapping stuff around on his account entirely, giving him admin/advisor/councilman roles and he is able to see it on any of the three. Just can’t see it as an artisan or member.

I’ve also tried deselecting all of the buddypress roles entirely, admin/councilman still work, but as an artisan or member still does not.

Thank you for any help you can provide!

After doing all of this… making countless amounts of edits and trying to figure out the error of my ways, I will concede and state that I am a blatant moron.

“Force the display of the WP toolbar for the roles selected above. Logged-in users will no longer be able to show/hide it from their WP Profile page.”

Somehow, I managed to overlook this option EVERY time I examined the options.

It’s 12:11AM, I’ve barely slept in a week. I will just say, that is the only defense I have. I feel dumb. Glad it’s working. Hallelujah.

Edited the previous post to remove further stupidity. Posting again to mark the topic resolved.

    Hi Alice,

No, you aren’t an idiot, stupid or any of those things. An idiot wouldn’t have figured it out and wouldn’t have known to keep trying. You are an accomplished troubleshooter now. ??

Even after all of the things I have done, I still miss things. You seem to have a fairly complex set-up. Be proud of yourself. You are doing a great job.

Please let us know if we can assist further. Get some rest.

Thank you so much for the kind words, it was a wonderful thing to wake up to this morning.

I’m just so relieved that I found the answer, as that bar is essential to notifying the user if they have any requests of them and whatnot.

Thankfully I’ve had several hours of sleep now. ??

    Thanks for the great plugin!
