  • The viewer appearance (including toolbar) can be changed almost entirely by using the Custom CSS File option with the Enhanced Viewer. Depending on the color you choose, you may also have to change the color of the sprite images (toolbar buttons) to remain legible.

An example is provided with the plugin with the “dark theme” and dark.css file. If you need more specific help, please get in touch with me via the Support tab in GDE Settings.

    Hi Kevin.

I have no idea what to do with the dark CSS code. Should I copy it, make the changes I want, then paste it into the CSS editor? If that’s the only option, what must I write at the start of the code to indicate the profile I’m referencing, and once I write that, what punctuation do I use next? What punctuation do I use to indicate I’m done?

    Thanks for your help.

PS. Also, am I supposed to upload a file into the css folder of the GDE?

You’ll want to put the css file somewhere other than the GDE directory so it isn’t overwritten if the plugin is upgraded. Use FTP or the file manager in your site’s control panel to put it in another directory.

If you don’t know CSS then doing the customization is going to be hard. If you want specific help please use the Support tab. I need to know what color you want to use for the background; the buttons themselves will be either white or black unless you can recolor the toolbar images, or can get someone to do that for you.

    Thanks for replying so quickly.

So, I should create a separate file for the new CSS and place it in the GDE directory, correct? And I can repeat that process if I wanted to create a second new profile?

And, in both cases, I need the full CSS mark-up, not just the changes I want to make? Is this all correct?

If you don’t mind creating the CSS, that would be great because I’d be winging it. The color for the toolbar is #cedc07 with black buttons.

    Here’s the site btw: eastcleveland.org

    Thanks again.

Hey, I want to help, but please read carefully.

Send me your request via the Support tab, not here. What you’re asking for is a customization which I would do as a favor.

No, you definitely do not want to place your CSS file in the GDE directory, as I mentioned. It would get lost when the plugin was upgraded. Put it in your uploads folder or somewhere else static. You can probably get away with using the dark.css and just changing some of the color values; you don’t have to make a new file from scratch (that’s why the sample is provided).

Then you get the full URL of the CSS file you created (edited) and put that URL in the “custom CSS file” setting of whatever profile(s) you wish to use it with.

    Hope this helps.

I am totally confused about the proper way to reply on this forum! But I’ll catch on. Anyway…

Put [custom CSS] it in your uploads folder or somewhere else static. You can probably get away with using the dark.css and just changing some of the color values.

OK. I got that, That is a very clear explanation. So I should be OK without you having to do the edit, but thanks of offering. If I hit a snag, I’ll write back.

I appreciate you spelling this all out for me.
