• Hi,

I manage my site from an iPad, however since the latest update I’ve been struggling with the editor. The toolbar for each block is glitching away from the blog and hiding further up the page – instead of being attached to the top of the block. I’ve uploaded a few pictures to imgur which may make this clearer:

I’ve tested this in both Chrome and Safari, facing the same issue which makes me think it’s a JS error for iPad screens. I’ve also removed all my plugins/themes and this didn’t solve the issue. I’ve reset my cache on each browser.

Editing my config is super difficult on iPad (no access to a computer thanks to this quarantine) so I haven’t been able to try the debut log.

Has anyone seen this issue before, or have an idea why it might be happening?

    Cheers,
    David.

  • If you click on the triple dots over to the right hand side, and select Top Toolbar, then it will always be at the top and not weirdly disconnected like that. It might be a good temporary solution.

Thanks @phoenixfireball ! That definitely solves the issue, although it’s a little more painful to use.

The problem also happens with the + button for setting the purpose of a new block, so I need to scroll up/down to find that overlay. Very frustrating!

Yeah, since you did lots of troubleshooting, I think you’ll have to look and see about submitting a trac ticket to have an update to WordPress created for whatever your edge case that’s causing this (if it is an edge case).

I couldn’t get this to work on my 6 year old iPad. I figured it may just be the iPad because the whole block editor wouldn’t load.

That being said, have you tried using the mobile apps? I know the iPad size screens don’t get a lot of focus right now, but that might be a possible solution.

By the way, I tested this myself and couldn’t recreate the problem using a responsive screen on a desktop browser.
