Tool to look inside File Manager

  • Is there a tool to look for words inside the whole directory of a File Manager. I0ve spent hours looking for a prticular word in every php file…

  • Use an ftp client to download a copy of the directory to your local machine, and work from the copy. You can then use a “grep” type of solution (actually use grep if you’re on a ‘nix machine and are familiar) or if you are using a Windows pc, there is a nice little tool (more than one. I’m sure) that has a very short learning curve for basic grep-like searches. I use this one frequently on my windows machines.

    I’ve downloaded dnGREP but do not know how to transfer the files across from the host with FileZilla. Can you help, please?
