tool changes

I cannot understand the new publishing tools. I have just written a fresh piece. I uploaded it, Previewed it and found it was all underlined. By simply deleting it and uploading it again, the underlining disappeared – except for the first paragraph. I deleted and re-uploaded and the underlining had gone. I finally got the thing right, the Preview showed everything was correct, and I Published. The published result was that I had the title only. The whole of the text was missing.

There are no ‘hover’ hints as to the tools’ functions – just the strange devices. Why?
