    Hi,

I’m currently setting my Yoast Taxonomies, but i have an huge list of term title on my website, due to a large number of products we sell.

So i need to setup more than 500 terms title, and check if every terms are correctly configured one by one (i don’t want these terms are displayed inside Google).

I tried to change the options for 50+ terms but it seems that Yoast is not able to save my choices.

Maybe Yoast’s developpers should add an option to enable/disable the global terms title ? and if yes, then choose one by one ? Or just to offer an easy trick for people with lot of variations terms inside their website.

Others are in the same case ?

    Thanks for your help

If you are looking for global settings to adjust the taxonomies title, you can do it directly from the SEO → Search Appearance → Taxonomies (tab). Whatever you’ll add in the relevant settings page will appear in the taxonomies title.

Note: the global settings won’t override if you have manually defined the taxonomies title on certain items. Those will remain how you have defined from the inner taxonomies edit pages.

Hi, thanks for your help, when i access the taxonomies tab, here’s my title terms :
    – category
    – post_tag
    – post_format
    – product_cat
    – product_tag
    – product_shipping_class

and then, all the 200+ terms title that i need to setup one by one, for example:
    – pa_adaptaucadre
    – pa_adaptalalampe
    – pa_adaptaudiamtre

If i can disable ALL the title terms just in one click it could be helpful. Antoher way, if someone can do this in SQL maybe ?

    Hi,

There are two different issues. We have responded to both below.

    A. Bulk Noindex Term Pages
Yoast does not have a way to bulk disable all those terms. If you do not want them to appear in Google the workaround is to use our filter here: https://gist.github.com/amboutwe/0c71e42aa164238007d7ea88f174a93f#file-yoast_seo_robots_remove_single-php to develop on the Yoast plugin to force a noindex tag to appear on those term pages.

When that happens Google is expected to drop those pages off from the SERPs.

Unfortunately, there’s a difference between the support we can offer and the level of programming needed to change (core) features of our plugin. Since we don’t want to take the risk that we break your website by suggesting incorrect or incomplete code, we cannot advise you on how to make such changes. And even though we cannot be of any assistance, you’re completely free to change anything in the plugin to better suit your needs.

We highly recommend checking out?our list of Yoast Partners here https://yoast.com/yoast-partners/ in case you are in need of development.

We will also keep this issue open for 1 week in case someone from the community can help. Perhaps a developer watching these forums can assist further. After which, we will close in order to keep the overview.

    B. I tried to change the options for 50+ terms but it seems that Yoast is not able to save my choices.
We would expect that you would be able to change the options and save as expected. We would like some more information.

    1. We had another recent release. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v15.4? If you update, does the issue resolve?

    2. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    3. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.6? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider.?Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    4. To clarify, you are going to SEO-Search Appearance-Taxonomies and clicking on the different product attributes (pa_nameofattributehere) and selecting NO. You are doing this for many different products at once and then saving those? When you save that change to NO did not save? See image: https://ibb.co/kygBsMb

IF SO, does the same result happen if you did it with 10 or 5 in a row? What about if you just did it with one? Does the change take?

Ok thanks for your help, i’ll try the A solution if the result expected is to force yoast to noindex the term titles.

    Now for the others questions:
    1) yoast last version update
    2) others non-yoast plugins updated
    3) WP 5.6
    4) yes, sure

I’m just tried to find a title term randomly inside my huge list, change the “display it in search results” to NO. Save it. Page refresh and the option wasn’t saved.

    Tested on Chrome and Firefox.

    Hi,

Thanks for that feedback! Sometimes there are javascript errors that prevent a save from taking place. If you check for JavaScript errors do any appear on that page in the backend when you hit save? They would appear in red in the console. Can you describe them or take a screenshot? If you are not sure how to look for JavaScript errors please use this guide https://yoast.com/help/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console/.

Also, on that same page if you were to make changes to the categories or tag section do those changes also save?

We are trying to figure out if there is some odd issue with just the product attributes (perhaps on the account of having lots) or if the issue is impacting the whole page.

    Hi,

Tried to change the category from YES to NO -> option saved, it’s working.
Searched about JS error in the console : no error.

I’m ok to share with you an admin account if it could be helpfull for the others yoast users, just send me an email.

    Thanks again for your time

    Hi,

Thanks for the feedback and for working with us to help narrow down a possible cause! It certainly seems like there is an issue with Yoast and that page when there are lots of product attributes.

We want to ask about two last things

    1. If you use a different browser such as Chrome or FireFox, does the issue resolve? Be sure it is updated and any browser plugins are disabled. You can also try it in private or incognito mode.

    2. Please Check for conflicts. Install the Healthcheck plugin and enable troubleshooting. Then switch to a standard theme like 2020. Does the issue resolve? NOTE: This will not affect how users see your site.

If the issue continues, we may except it to be a bug. We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so your best next step would be to create a new issue for our developers at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new. You will need an account to create a new issue. If this is your first bug report, please check out: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-write-a-good-bug-report/.

ok thanks, i tried the step you wrote :

    1) tried incognito mode both on FF and on Chrome, changes are not saved
    2) activated the healthcheck product, enabled troublehooting, and enabled WOOcommerce + yoast for the tests. Changes are not saved (but thanks for the tips i didn’t know this plugin ??

So i’ll report the bug ! have a nice day and thanks for your time
