• my host contacted me recently, informing me my CPU usage was beyond what was allowed.

for various reasons, I believe much of this has to do with my blog’s comments. for instance, one of my posts has 70+ comments and has to use up SIGNIFICANT CPU whenever someone merely opens the page, as it then retrieves every comment.

is there any way I could reduce the CPU usage of viewing comments? I have WP-Cache and Super Cache enabled, but it isn’t doing enough.

any suggestions to mend the comment CPU situation, or any recommendations at all to reduce my site’s resources, would be appreciated. thanks!

Try decativating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Default theme (WordPress 2.9) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0) to rule-out a theme-specific issue.
