    Hi there,

I’d like my users to use the WordPress default profile screen to edit their accounts rather than the PMPro membership page. I have selected “use WordPress default” in the Pages settings, yet for some reason, accessing wp-admin/profile.php results in a “too many redirects” error. I must be missing something. Any ideas?

After further testing, this seems associated with capabilities assigned to the user role. I can’t seem to allow the user to access the WordPress default without allowing them the ability to edit posts. Is there a cap I’m missing somewhere?

    Hi @the9mm

Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro.

Are you restricting access to your WordPress dashboard area and redirect away if a direct link is used?

Paid Memberships Pro does offer a frontend edit profile page that may be a solution to your issue – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/documentation/frontend-pages/member-profile-edit/

I believe that the ‘read’ capability should be sufficient to access the user’s own profile and WordPress dashboard.

Please let me know what steps (installation and configuration) is needed to replicate this issue on my end.

    Hello,

No, I am not restricting access (and have not checked off those boxes in PMPro either).

I am utilizing a custom solution to add custom fields and user taxonomies that is easier to work with using the WordPress default, so I am not interested in the PMPro frontend member profile pages at this time.

I have granted the role “read” capabilities, but they cannot see the dashboard or toolbar. It is only when I grant them “edit posts” capabilities that they can see and access that.

I recommend in reaching out to a local WordPress developer or posting to jobs.wordpress.net to assist you with this customized solution as you are not restricting access inside Paid Memberships Pro.

I also suggest in looking at other plugins that may redirect users away from the WordPress dashboard, like WooCommerce and possibly other plugins that may have user account functionality.
