Good plugin, however all the notifications about upgrading to pro are really annoying. I don’t need or want your damn pro version. I run scores of sites with this plugin using only a handful of the plugin’s bloated feature set. Every few days I have to jump though hoops to turn off some stupid new nag. Makes me wonder wonder how much time I’ve spent ovr the past couple of years saying no to this developer. Today, yet another nag appears telling me they want me to give them a 5 star review. Sorry. That ship sailed about 1000 nags ago.

Hey @johncharlton: most of those nags serve a purpose for *you*. They’re notifications about issues on your site. We hardly ever promote our premium plugin inside our plugin. Also, the plugin apparently serves you well, otherwise you wouldn’t install it on so many sites, would you? Or do you really think a 2-star review for a plugin you use on “scores of sites” is fair?

Lastly: “bloated” in what way? What do you think it shouldn’t do that it does?

Most of those nags serve no purpose for me and are quite annoying by wasting my time. Since you asked, I would like a version of the plugin that allows me to remove the plugin from the WordPress Admin bar.

For me, the plugin is bloated because I do not use Readability or Keyword Analysis and have to turn these features off with each install. I know many people say that they only use 10% of the plugin’s capabilities and don’t need or want the rest. That’s 90% bloat in my book.

You say, “We hardly ever promote our premium plugin inside our plugin.” Really? – How about your 8th sub-menu (Go Premium). How about the ads that run inside the plugin promoting website reviews, SEO copyright training, Yoast news, Yoast local SEO, oh wait… I can turn those off if I Go Premium. You are always pushing your pro services. That’s okay, just not sure why you say you don’t, when clearly you do?

Yesterday, I was particularly irked by you placing a notification within the plugin (yet another update) that did nothing but ask me to give you a 5 star rating. Every site I open, give me a 5 star rating, give me a 5 star rating, give me a 5 star rating, give me a 5 star rating…. I see enough of these and I’m ready to scream at you.

The scale used for rating these plugins is as follows: 1 star = Poor, 2 star = Works, 3 stars = Good, 4 stars = Great, 5 stars = Fantastic. I gave you 2 stars, because it works and because I was pissed off at you. I will upgrade that to 3 as I concede the plugin works good.

I just wish you would stop making us take so many actions just to maintain the plugin in it’s most basic form.
